Intel Corporation CEO Brian Krzanich joined Michael Posner for a discussion on Intel’s “In Pursuit of Conflict Free” initiative. The initiative challenges Intel employees to eliminate conflict minerals – gold, tungsten, tin and tantalum sourced from militia-controlled mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – from the company’s supply chains. Inspired by advocacy by the Enough Project, Intel has committed that all of its products will be “conflict free” by 2016.

Posner interviewed Krzanich on Intel’s commitment and process on conflict minerals, as well the importance of adopting and implementing human rights standards in business operations. Krzanich was frank about the company’s internal considerations and learning process addressing human rights challenges. Following their conversation, Krzanich addressed questions from the audience, on topics ranging from the relationship between Dodd-Frank Act and corporate responsibility and the power of social media and campus activism to effect change.
