More About the Speaker & the Moderator:
Farooq Kathwari is the chairman, president and CEO of Ethan Allen
Interiors Inc. He has been president of the company since 1985, and
chairman and CEO since 1988. Mr. Kathwari serves in numerous capacities
at several nonprofit organizations, including the International Rescue
Committee; the Center for Strategic and International Studies; and the
Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Kathwari holds BAs in English Literature
and Political Science from Kashmir University, Srinagar, and an MBA in
International Marketing from New York University, New York. He is also
the recipient of three honorary doctorate degrees and has been recognized
by Worth magazine as one of the 50 Best CEOs in the United States.
Michael H. Posner is the Jerome Kohlberg Professor of Ethics and Finance
at NYU’s Stern School of Business. He is the Director of the Center for
Business and Human Rights at the Business school, the first-ever human
rights center at a business school. Prior to joining NYU Stern, Posner
served in the Obama Administration from 2009-2013 as Assistant Secretary
of State for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor. A member
of the California Bar and the Illinois Bar, he received his J.D. from the
University of California, Berkeley Law School (Boalt Hall) in 1975, and a B.A.
with distinction and honors in History from the University of Michigan in 1972.
