The Robert L. Bernstein Institute for Human Rights and the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights invite you to join Stavros Lambrinidis, the European Union's Special Representative for Human Rights, for a discussion of 'The Rights of Others in Foreign Policy.' In his lecture, , Mr. Stavros Lambrinidis, will explore the role of human rights in EU foreign policy, including some of today’s major challenges in ensuring an effective human rights promotion around the world. He will in particular address the question of the universality of human rights, the shrinking space of civil society, as well as the issues of coherence and effectiveness that the EU faces.

The lunch will be held on Tuesday, September 20th from 12:00pm - 1:00pm in Furman Hall room 310. 

Stavros Lambrinidis is the European Union's Special Representative for Human Rights. He previously held the positions of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece; Vice President of the European Parliament; the Director General of the International Olympic Truce Center; Ambassador at Large of the Hellenic Republic; Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs; attorney at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington, D.C.; and Managing Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law at Yale University Law School.
